Bovisand Special Distinction Award

The hard work here at Bovisand this time last year, burying the electricity cable which spanned the valley, has been praised with a Special Distinction Award from the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme.

A letter and certificate signed by David Bellamy stated ” These Special Distinction Awards are given to a small number of parks to highlight specific examples of “best practice” that other participants in the scheme can learn from.

Bovisand was nominated for the work done in burying the overhead electricity cables that previously spoilt the view across the picturesque valley. The assessor said “the park showed great initiative and resource and put in a great deal of hard work and time. The landscape aesthetics are greatly improved” I think you have shown a great deal of resourcefulness and ingenuity, so well done to all involved”.

Hopefully the David Bellamy Scheme will be equally as impressed with the Thermal Solar Panel installation this summer to heat the indoor swimming pool.

The America’s Cup series is proving interesting viewing for Bailey, Topsy and Myself. From our hillside we can watch all the action at the far end of the course, as the Catamaran’s battle for pole position alongside the Breakwater. Yesterday 3 boats capsized as the blustery conditions challenged all the competitors to the limit. I can’t wait for Wednesday when racing resumes after a two day break.
